Carers do vital work and deserve to be paid properly. Fair pay agreements give us the chance to raise wages through collective bargaining - key to filling 130,000 care vacancies. Tories can spare us the policy review and start by apologising to carers for their Covid failures.

Next week marks 5 years since the beginning of Covid lockdown. The lessons from the pandemic have not been learned - our members in the care sector are still having to fight for a decent wage and proper sick pay. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences with me today.

The great workforce at Ferguson’s has been utterly betrayed by abysmal management and government. Politicians must be held accountable as we fight to secure a future for Ferguson Marine.

For generations, North Sea oil and gas workers have powered our industries, warmed our homes and kept our country moving. We will be dependent on gas for decades to come, and we can’t rely on imports to meet our needs. These workers and their communities deserve a future.

It was our union that cleaned up the nuclear industry in the 1980’s - we won’t compromise on the safety of the Sellafield workforce now. We demand a just future for our members and the community of West Cumbria.
