Stumbled on a Madness doco on YouTube last night. Having a Madness kind of morning. Saw them at Cloudland in Brisbane in ‘81 (or thereabouts), my recollection is that they were brilliant.

This storm in a bra cup over the trans employee in a UK store offering to assist a TERF and her teen daughter. @eviljoy36.bsky.social took me to a mainstream bra maker for a proper fitting. The sizing was done in seconds, me fully clothed, completely accurate. No concerns that I was trans.

I feel as though Alien Earth just doesn’t have it. There’s moments here and there but after three episodes I’m kind of on the fence already.

I saw Alien the first public session on opening day, somewhere in the dark a girl cried in terror. If my memory serves me right it was in the Paris Cinema on Albert Street, Brisbane. Alien: Earth ep1 was okay but felt flat, thankfully ep2 was good. I hope that the rest of the series stays that way.

Interesting that Adrian Edmondson AKA Vyvyan from The Young Ones is in both the Star Wars and Alien universes. As is Timothy Olyphant.

I’m currently in Hong Kong after 5 nights in Shenzhen, China and 2 nights in Macau and am experiencing a little bit of culture shock from all the advertising and seeing many non Asian faces. I really loved Shenzhen and hope to visit other Chinese cities in the future, particularly Shanghai.

Walking back to my hotel in Shenzhen last night I heard a piano being played nearby and found this “Public Welfare Piano Room”. Someone inside was playing a slow, accidentally soulful version of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s Forbidden Colors, the memorable tune from Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.

I’m in Shenzhen China, having a knock off Japanese hamburg and rice dinner listening to the restaurant’s piped in American country and western music. What a time to be alive.

I’ve become obsessed with HEYTEA while I’ve been here in China. I’ve mostly had the fruit ones - clockwise from top left: Coconut Mango, Refreshing Guava (red), Refreshing Guava (green) and Buffalo Milk Frozen Matcha. They were all super tasty but the Coconut Mango has been the tastiest so far.

So I’m in Shenzhen, China for a few days. Mostly to shoot architecture for a new show later in the year, and to add to my portfolio. Maybe because Japan is too easy to travel around now it’s become less of a challenge, I’ll certainly visit there again if I can but this is new things to discover.
