The record high for Charlottesville on Friday is 91° / 2021. Expect lots of sunshine and a *slight* uptick in humidity.

I was at this game and still have my ticket stub somewhere. Truly the worst, most boring game I've ever attended in any sport. It truly looked like neither team cared or even wanted to be on the field.

A little warmer on Thursday, a touch more humid too (but not oppressive). Don't forget sun protection if outside for an extended period of time! Hotter times are ahead; we could tie/break our daily record highs on Friday & Saturday.

Some spots will fall into the 40s by sunrise Wednesday, but a quick warm-up will lead to highs in the lower 80s with lots of sunshine throughout the day.

I said it on air Friday and I’ll say it again: this weekend’s weather in central Virginia is the weather we should have had over Memorial Day weekend. That said, we got several inches of beneficial rain instead so it really wasn’t a bad weekend of weather in the end.

To no surprise: even after all of the rain there's virtually no change locally with the state drought monitor as of 5/28. Extreme drought conditions continue for everyone south of US-33.

Only a few showers will move through overnight as temperatures hold steady. Expect a decent amount of sunshine on Thursday as highs push into the lower to middle 80s, but there will be a big and noticeable drop in humidity.

See that thin white line of clouds just above the ridges on the McDonough Toyota / Staunton towercam? That's the view of the backside of the thunderstorms moving through southern Albemarle and Nelson Counties. Nothing severe as of this post.

Another line of heavy rain and thunderstorms is pushing east over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nothing as of this post is severe-warned but areas south of Charlottesville and Interstate 64 have the best chance of adding to their already-lofty rainfall totals in the next 90 minutes.

That severe line of thunderstorms that just went through Charlottesville? It brought nearly a third of an inch of rain in fifteen minutes to our Carter Mountain weather station (FW5988). It also brought winds gusts close to 40mph.

Heads up, Charlottesville: this incoming thunderstorm, while not severe (yet), appears to be producing gusty straight-line winds and very heavy rain. Should arrive in the city within the next 20 minutes.

Potent but non-severe storm about to cross the Blue Ridge and bring quite a bit of rain to Crozet, White Hall, and NW Albemarle County. Storm may also produce very gusty winds.

Clouds, fog, and humid conditions will continue overnight. There could be a few strong to severe storms Wednesday afternoon if we see enough sunshine. Afternoon temperatures should push into the 80s.

I'm very encouraged by our 24-hour rainfall totals. This won't come remotely close to ending our extreme drought conditions, but it's still very beneficial.

Not much deviation in the flight plan: expect intermittent showers overnight and through the day Friday. We *may* catch a several-hour long dry break in time for Fridays After 5 before rain returns for the overnight.

Thunderstorms should wind down before midnight and temperatures will continue a slow slide through Thursday afternoon. I think Thursday afternoon will be the wetter half of the day and showers will continue into Friday & Saturday.

Charlottesville missed today's record high by one degree (96°/1996). MUCH cooler temperatures and some rain await the remainder of the week.

Friday looks to be a lovely day with sunshine, a few afternoon clouds, and highs in the middle 70s. Temperatures will climb into the 80s and 90s this weekend. Stay cool and remember sun protection if outdoors, especially for UVA Final Exercises!

Following tonight's rain, skies will become mostly clear by sunrise Thursday but will become mostly cloudy by mid-morning and stay that way through the afternoon. It will be cool and breezy, and there may even be a few afternoon rain sprinkles.

Wave #1 of showers is moving through central VA right now. Wave #2 with storms is developing in WV and will pass through between 7-10pm. Severe storms aren't expected but I think any storms that form will weaken as they get farther east from the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Temperatures won't be as cold tonight. Skies will be partly cloudy on Wednesday. Round one of showers: 1-4pm. Round two (with some thunderstorms possible): 6-9pm. Less than a quarter-inch of rain total is expected.
