This. If you look at the standard justifications for punishment—e.g., deterrence, retribution, incapacitation—the disenfranchisement argument is _very_ weak. And the risks and examples of abuse are extensive. We shouldn't let outcomes of the criminal "justice" system strip this fundamental right.
