Just finished Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five. It’s not very original to observe this, but holy cow, it’s a masterpiece. It’s at once a very serious book about war and PTSD/trauma, and extremely funny, compassionate, and joyful. What an omission that it wasn’t in the Guardian best novels list

I really enjoyed Never Whistle At Night, a collection of dark short stories by Indigenous writers. Especially liked Quantum by Nick Medina, Collections by Amber Blaeser-Wardzala and The Prepper by Morgan Talty, but they're all very good
