Random Game of the Day Day 251 - Solatorobo: Red the Hunter A sequel to a PS1 game (Tail Concerto), this is a highly underrated action RPG that really pushed the DS to its limits in regards to scale and design. I pre-ordered this based on a small blurb from Nintendo Power and has an absolute blast

A Town Called Panic (2009) My favorite stop motion film! An Indian, a cowboy and a horse are roommates. It's horses birthday and Indian and Cowboy try to make a nice birthday gift, but things go awry quickly and hilarity ensues. All of the characters are army men style figures

The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012) I feel like most people only know the memes and gifs this film has been made into. But I highly implore anyone interested to check out this swashbuckling adventure about some down in their luck pirates who team up with Darwin

Blood Tea and Red String (2006) Another film using taxidermy. However, this film is much more tame imo. It's basically a fantasy adventure film about two factions fighting over a doll that was recently created. It still has some weird imagery in it from time to time

The Wolf House (2018) This one is kind of hard for me to describe as I feel it's one of those films that could have multiple interpretations. From what I recall it was about a girl that ran away and grew up in the woods on her own. But I've only seen it once so I could be misremembering things

The House (2022) An anthology film all about one specific house and the different inhabitants of it through the years. It starts out as a horror film but by the end ends up as more of a drama

Mad Monster Party (1967) Basically Hotel Transylvania but created by Rankin/Bass (Rudolph, Frosty, etc.). I know that oversimplifying the plot but both films do have a bit in common

Jan Svankmajer's Alice (1988) The tripiest version of the Alice in Wonderland story. Using a mixture of life action puppets and actors and stop motion. Most of the creatures are made out of taxidermy and other grotesque items so viewer beware

The Inventor (2023) A charming look into the life of Leonardo DaVinci during his later years. He's hired by a king to make his kingdom the most advanced using Leonardo's designs, but he soon finds out the king isn't as forward thinking as he was led to believe

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2021) Based on the YouTube character of the same name. A blogger renting a house comes upon Marcel and his grandma and he makes a documentary about trying to find his lost family

Toys in the Attic (2009) A story centering around a group of toys and other odds and ends as they have an adventure in a large must attic. Everything in this film is made out of found stuff so the visuals are really interesting on top of it just being a fun adventure film

Robbie the Reindeer (1998-2002) There's two of these Christmas specials starring Rudolph's somewhat dimwitted son; Hooves of Fire and Legend of the Lost Tribe. In Hooves of Fire, Robbie tries to make the sleigh team but with some pushback. In Legend of the Lost tribe, he comes across some Vikings

The Miracle Maker (1999) The story of Jesus from the time he begins his preaching with his 12 disciples up through after he died on the cross, but this time through the eyes of a young girl that he brought back to life

The Gumby Movie (1995) Yup, Gumby got his own film 30 years ago. The main plot is the blockheads have kidnapped Gumby's dog who has the ability to shed tears that turn into pearls. So it's up to Gumby and his friends to rescue her

James and the Giant Peach (1996) Based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name, this follows a young boy that happens upon a ginormous peach. Inside is a family of bugs that embrace him as part of their own family

The Puppetoon Movie (1987) A celebration of George Pal. Another prolific animator during the 50/60/70 and was considered the Walt Disney of Stop-motion due to the amount of detail and charm he brought to his characters. Guest starring Gumby and Pokey as well as many other famous characters

I Go Pogo (1980) A satiric political film based on a comic strip of the same name. It's about a Possum named Pogo being picked to run for mayor basically against his will and all of the hijinks that ensue with running a campaign

The Little Prince (1979) Another Will Vinton film. This time based on the French children's book of the same name and probably the best adaptation ever. I'd recommend reading the book first, but this film is also a great introduction to this somber story

Nutcracker Fantasy (1979) It's not exactly based on the classic musical. And it's made by Sanrio and specifically directed by the guy that created Hello Kitty. But it's a fun fantasy adventure film with some really weird visuals

Martin the Cobbler (1977) Based on the short story by Leo Tolstoy, narrated by his granddaughter and animated by Will Vinton Studios (Pizza Noid, California raisins, etc.). This is about a cobbler who is angry and God for everything that has gone wrong in his life

The Mascot aka The devil's ball (1933) If you like the imagery of The Nightmare before Christmas. This'll knock your freaking socks off! Also made by Ladislas Starevich. A Toy dog along with a bunch of other toys go to hell and have a party... I'm just gonna leave it at that

The Cameraman's Revenge (1912) One of, if not they earliest stop motion film. This was made by the grandfather of Stop-motion, Ladislas Starevich. He basically used dead bugs with wires in them to create this fun little film
