Leadership Principle: Serving strict supervision can lead to dysfunction. This is a significant issue within policing and paramilitary structures. Rigid chains of command can provide effective control in high-pressure situations, but these scenarios only account for a small fraction of the day.

Leadership Principle: Empower Your People, Don't Disenfranchise Them. One of the biggest mistakes l've observed in major companies, including my own department, is the tendency of leadership to control and funnel decisions into "choke points."

Leadership Principle: Legacy is a Fallacy. The concept of legacy can be misleading; the true impact you have arises from the relationships you build, which can change over time. Your legacy is created today, not tomorrow.

Leadership principle: Be kind, calm, and compassionate. Emotional reactions to adults making decisions are a symptom of immaturity. It means you lack the development to grow people.

Any agents want to represent a book on leadership, philosophy, and how to treat people from the perspective of a front line People Crimes detective at an agency on the cusp of transitioning from small town to large metro?

Leadership principle: Be fair, firm, and consistent. The worst thing a leader can do is use obtuse decision-making processes to punish some employees or praise others. Secrecy destroys the bonds that form loyalty, removing trust and damaging morale.

Leadership principle: Age is not an indicator of quality; attitude is. Someone can be young and inexperienced but willing to grow and learn. Conversely, an experienced veteran can fear change and become stagnant, driving what was once great to mediocrity.

I had one of the most vivid intense movie type dreams told in time jumps and in a very literary type style that I’ve ever had about a pitching Tall Tale American legend. It was wild. First dream in 5 months. Same age as the new kid. There were also unicorns.
