Tbf I was quite surprised that the anti-Ukrainian part of Polish political discourse was so successfully stifled in the aftermath of the invasion. Put it this way, Polish society is deeply sceptical towards Ukraine for historical reasons (and prejudice has always lurked beneath the surface)

You see there are options in Poland but in the second round there isn't, which could go two ways a) turnout drops massively, b) turnout goes up because they absolutely hate the other option

With Braun I agree, not so sure with Mentzen, I think a lot of young people protest voting for him and many members of that group may not turn up in the second round or might swing Trzaskowski as he's more free market than Nawrocki

To me it's either Tusk or Macron. Tusk is from a hawkish country but he isn't an ideologue, and can work within larger structures (he's not a nationalist). Macron, because he's actually got a larger geopolitical vision. Both Polish and French positions are now not all that far off each other

Not just that, they need to be prepared to stand up for what Europe is and what makes it different from the US. Social democracy/Christian democracy, free education, better healthcare etc. Europe in so many areas does things better than the US and it doesn't emphasize them enough
