Mindfulness doesn’t need to be 20 minutes long. A few seconds of noticing your breath counts. One breath in. One breath out. That’s enough. Micro-mindfulness is gentle, doable, and FND-friendly. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re doing it. 💙

Living with #fnd can mean a nervous system stuck in high alert or shutdown. But, we don’t have to regulate alone. Co-regulation, like a pet curled up beside you or holding a loved one's hand, means letting someone else's presence help you feel safer. These moments remind your body, “I’m not alone.”

For those living with #FND, the body often feels out of sync. But our senses can guide us back to a place of felt safety. Today’s practice is simple: Find a texture you love or inhale a scent that soothes you. Let your body soak it in. These moments tell your brain, “It’s okay to rest here."

Living with FND can be isolating, especially when others don’t get it. This message reminds us that healing is possible, and you get to define what recovery looks like for you. For some, it’s yoga. For others, it might be lifting weights. The key is to keep exploring until you find what helps YOU!

You don’t have to do a full routine or feel “better” right away. Just feel your feet on the floor. This simple act can help your nervous system recognize: I’m here and safe enough right now. Did you know that many Functional Neurological Disorder can be understood through the lens of the nervous system’s response to safety and stress? Our bodies shift between states of activation to help us survive and adapt. When the nervous system becomes dysregulated, this can lead to FND symptoms.

Functional Neurological Disorder is diagnosed by positive clinical signs-not by ruling things out. It can mimic other neurological conditions, so misdiagnosis happens. But like Parkinson’s or epilepsy, #FND can be accurately diagnosed through a detailed history and exam. #FNDawareness #FNDcourage
