I'm ecstatic to announce that I will be joining the UND Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences this fall as an Assistant Professor! And in a blink, another AMS has come & gone! From getting an Editor's Award, to sharing new research, and reconnecting with countless friends - the week was a joyful whirlwind. With each passing year, I hold onto these moments a little longer, thankful for the folks I get to share this field with ❤️

One of the biggest takeaways from the joint session at the recent AMS Meso/Broadcast meeting was that our community *doesn't do enough to amplify forecast successes*! Our forecast ability - while not perfect - has become the expectation, such that the public only notices when things break or fail.

🧵A decade ago, I went to my 1st @ametsoc.org conference. The enormity of the going's on was almost dizzying - a sensory overload for a junior excited to carve out a path in the field. Fast forward to this past week, when I chaired the AMS Mesoscale Conference w/ Dr. Daniel Kirshbaum in Boise (1/5)

So immensely proud of ALL our students & early career presenters at #AMS21Meso this week! Their enthusiasm and big ideas are truly an inspiration - a bright sign for the future of the field. I think I speak for everyone when I say the best is to come for these future leaders! 🙌

Teamwork makes the dream work! Conversations between researchers and broadcasters are *critical* to ensure that the newest science is disseminated to the public in a way that is engaging and spurs folks to action! Hope this synergy only grows and deepens with time 🙌

A truly special experience, one that I hope continues and grows moving forward. Multiple generations of LGBTQ+ scientists, sharing stories of past obstacles and reflecting on how far the field has come in terms of community and acceptance. My heart is so full ❤️🌈

Absolutely gutted for my friends across NOAA/NWS who are receiving word of their unjust termination. The services/research that they provide are critical to this nation's safety and infrastructure, in the face of an evolving climate and expanding vulnerability footprints (1/2).

Though this last year has had its struggles and pain, these gems have surrounded me with love time and time again and kept me going when I felt like I couldn't go any further.
