A reminder of just how weak this Republican field is. Georgia voters have been subjected to months of these candidates, and not one of them could close the deal. Personally, I look forward to four more weeks of their in-fighting and three-ring circus, but I can’t imagine Georgia feels the same.

The brass tacks: We remain very bullish about Texas, and there is every likelihood SMP will make a mark there. Talarico can win - public and private polls have found that to be true. He's the better candidate, and not just because Cornyn and Paxton are both deeply flawed in their own ways.

Donald Trump just endorsed a man who was impeached by his own party, indicted for felony fraud, reported to the FBI by his own staff, ordered to pay $6.6 million to the whistleblowers he tried to destroy, and whose wife is divorcing him on biblical grounds.

The Texas endorsement is a real L for John Thune. The broader Cornyn world spent $100M to push him over the finish line, and SLF and the NRSC went scorched-earth on Paxton. Trump didn't care, even with Thune pleading for Cornyn. Thune didn't have the pull to make it happen.
