I already have a silhouette for my pngtuber's glow outline 🌟 I turned the base image into a signed distance function (each pixel value being the distance to the boundary, or negative if inside), then applied a falloff and colour map to that to make the glow. I should clarify that this is entirely me speculating from GLITCH's statement sounding like they want recognition from the "traditional film industry". It doesn't get more "traditional film industry" than the Oscars, who require a theatrical release in at least 10 U.S. states for at least 7 days.

It seems like GLITCH is trying to get an Oscar nomination for TADC, needing a release in theatres first, and maybe they're right that it'd get the attention of the industry, and I truly wish them the best. Also, fuck the Oscars, and like with YouTubers and TV, stop chasing legacy media validation!

I wrote over 1000 lines of simple, boring code in about 4 hours today. I've also taken a whole day to write a single line of code with 100 lines of comment explaining it, and another day explaining it to someone reviewing it. Number of lines of code alone is not a valid metric of productivity.

Big thanks to the person who showed up in chat and worked through the change of variables in the confusing integral. When I'd tried to work through it earlier, I forgot dx can't stay as "dx", when x is being replaced. It becomes d(cosθ), i.e. -sinθ dθ, cancelling out the 1/sinθ that confused me.

If the middle third looks more like the left third, the image is being resized incorrectly. When viewed at full resolution, the middle third looks more like the right third. This demonstrates the importance of rescaling images and blending colours in linear colourspace, instead of sRGB.
