We also know why autism diagnosis has increased: Improved criteria that identifies more autistic people, improved diagnostic services, and general awareness of autism. It's not Tylenol.

Two things cause autism: affluence and genetics. Affluence causes it because affluent families can access diagnosis more easily. Genetics causes it in a very complex genetic/epigenetic mechanism that we don't yet fully understand, but know exists.
