Gonna go even further: don't refer to it as "consuming media" when doing this. You aren't a consumer - it's not a product. You read books. You look at art. You watch movies and/or videos. Be careful about word choice. Reject "consume" and REJECT "CONTENT." IT IS ART. YOU ARE ENGAGING WITH ART.

If you love the open web, then don't censor legal content based on puritan ideas. Just augment the already existing moderation tools to allow people to opt-in/out of viewing that content. Censoring the content under the new TOS does nothing to make Bsky safer, but makes it significantly less open.

Fiction is not reality. It is literally there in the word. Fictional content does not harm anyone (we've been through this debate so many times already when discussing violence in movies and games). But censoring and stigmatizing fiction *does* cause harm by denying the ability to express oneself.

people can issue consent. things cannot. drawings & sculptures & fictional characters are things. they are property. they are NOT real people. requiring fictional characters to issue consent is an insult to real people w/real problems how does bsky expect to get consent from something like marble?
