Greetings from Florence, SC, where the Cracker Barrel has inexplicably given me at least a pound of country ham on my breakfast sampler. I was just talking about how Southern Cracker Barrels are different (better, tbh) from Northern Cracker Barrels and it's like they did this to make a point.

Watching a parent become legit elderly is a whole trip. All the moreso when the parent in question fully expected to have been dead 15-20 years ago (and raised you with the same expectation) so they're caught by surprise in having to figure out how to exist in old age.

I watched the final episode of Vera tonight and spent the final fifteen minutes inconsolably sobbing. Then I needed half an hour to collect myself. In other news, I think I'm holding a lot of unexamined grief right now.
