20 May 1910 | A Polish Jew, Beniamin Feuer, was born in Kolbuszowa. A butcher. In #Auschwitz from 22 October 1941. No. 21880 He perished in the camp on 29 October 1941.

8 May 1940 | An Italian Jewish boy, Gianfranco Pontecorvo, was born in Rome. He arrived at #Auschwitz on 23 October 1943 in a transport of 1,035 Jews deported from Rome. He was among 839 of them murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

4 May 1939 | A Dutch Jewish girl, Suzanna Cohen, was born in Amsterdam. In July 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She was murdered in a gas chamber right after selection.

4 May 1897 | A German Sinti woman, Angela Steinbach, was born. In #Zigeunerlager (Gypsy camp) in #Auschwitz II-Birkenau from 13 March 1943. No. Z-3102 She perished in the camp on 8 November 1943.

12 March 1912 | Polish Jewish woman Ala Gertner was born in Będzin. She was incarcerated in #Auschwitz in August 1943. She worked in „Union” munition factory from where together with other women she smuggle gunpowder to Sonderkommando resistance. She was hanged on 6 January 1945.

Paying the ultimate price Heinrich and Maria List Thread 1/n Heinrich List, a Catholic farmer living in the Protestant village of Ernsbach in Hesse, was murdered for hiding a Jewish acquaintance. Even before List was arrested, the Jew managed to escape and survived the war.
