B/c the story takes place in the 9th century, clerical celibacy isn't a thing in the Catholic Church yet. So Radbod can have his lady friends. Cellanus disapproves as Radbod is not married to any of them. Radbod does not care what Cellanus thinks.

Day 2 #DVparty Last main character is Father Radbod. He is a priest and a foil to Cellanus. He's charming, oozing with charisma, and extremely lustful. He has many lady friends and they are frequent guests. He tries to teach Cellanus how to actually talk normally to the laity.

Day 2 #DVparty Another main character in my novel is Hervör. She is a trans Viking sex worker trying to earn money to go to Venice. She does not get along with her brothers and finds the cheerful monk who wants to convert her entirely baffling. (But oddly charming in a weird way.)

Day 2 of #DVparty Brother Cellanus is also based on several saints and other figures from medieval history, especially virgin martyr saints and male saints dedicated to their chastity.

#DVparty Cellanus also has ADHD, but its the 9th century so he does not know that, nor is he medicated for it. Cellanus wishes he wasn't so impulsive but struggles to control himself. This gets him into trouble.

Cellanus is also extremely cheerful and optimistic in the face of all opposition. He's intelligent but a bit naive and impulsive. He fights for what he believes in, which does cause him to get beaten up by vikings and cause general chaos in his community.

Day 2 of #DVparty Meet Cellanus! He's a 9th century monk who is slightly fanatical in his beliefs. He's dedicated to the Lord & his vow of chastity. But will also steal money (that his abbot accidentally gave to him) & use that money to preach at a brothel, but does not manage to convert anyone.
