Sadly, she passed the other night. It seems that her kidneys started shutting down despite the successful surgery, and her heart gave out. Her human decided to let her go. 💔 It really sucks to try so hard and for it to not be enough. Monty welcomed her sister home, so I know she’s not alone.

She is in surgery at the moment, and we’re optimistic it will go well. First good news in a couple days that there’s hope. 💜 thank you, my friends.

This extremely sad boy is having the worst day. First, he did some yard work, then dad undid all his hard work. Then, dad left his food bowl outside so he couldn’t check if more food would appear there, and then friend dog Watson got to eat her breakfast and he didn’t get second breakfast.

One of my goals this year was to make friends, and I’ve been really loving my new book club. Last night, we met at a nature reserve south of my city and did a guided foraging hike, learning about native plants and their uses. Along the way, we met a hungry moose cronching leaves!

A few good things. Plus good news that those are not flying termites, but completely harmless “graceful twig ants” hanging out in the rotted-out core of a porch column.

They’ll definitely need to be cleaned up quite a bit, but can you imagine??

I’m so excited, I could burst. I’m getting two of the old windows from my childhood church so I can repurpose them into beautiful glass artwork. The church is one of the few things I still have connecting me to my grandmother, and she ensured those windows were preserved for decades.

When your to-do list is insanely long and everything on it requires taking a shower, you understand why lots of little boys hate baths.

Since Monty died, I’ve been trying to keep busy because when I stand still it hurts. But some good has come out of that. I’ve helped start a book club, learned a new art form, started traveling again, introduced Watson and Sherlock, and made some IRL friends. I wish Monty were here to enjoy with me.

I have decided that this is not the year to weed my yard. Fuck it. Let’s see what grows.
