I'm Kagi-curious. Can you disable all the AI features? What's the experience like if you do so?

So wait they're kidnapping 5 year olds and shipping them off to Texas detention centers now? And I am literally paying for this via taxes?

When the rejection of AI includes AI researchers, you know that the phrases "adapt or die, Luddite" don't work.

Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week. ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.

I find it necessary these days to affirm the obvious because the descent into fascism is mostly a continuous, not discrete, process so here it goes: these are internal checkpoints by secret police for what is routine freedom of movement.

You may have seen a recent Node.js security advisory and related coverage discussing a potential denial-of-service issue involving async_hooks. OpenTelemetry (and other APM tools) were mentionedβ¦

It's been over 4 years since
@multithreadedjs.bsky.social
, by

and myself, was published. A lot has changed in 4 years, and a lot has stayed the same. What interesting things have you done with threads in JS? LMK. Would love to publish anecdotes (with permission) in 2nd edition.

My daughter's school in Richfield, MN (adjacent to Minneapolis) is closing tomorrow due of out-of-control federal agents. Fourth graders spent the week building walls of snow at recess to protect their classmates from ICE. This isn't about immigration enforcement, it's about terror.

Today, we published a security release for
@nodejs.org
that fixes a critical bug affecting virtually every production Node.js app. If you use React Server Components, Next.js, or ANY APM tool (Datadog, New Relic, OpenTelemetry), your app could be vulnerable to DoS attacks. π

Say you're building an import/module system for a new language. What concepts would you include? What tradeoffs would you make? Does an existing system strike you as "good enough"? Why or why not? Plz discuss.

Reminder that folks you might expect to post on social media about current events might not be commenting due to the legal implications of commenting. Silence may not be complicity, but self-preservation, family-presevation, etc.

My dad turned 70 in December, so I wanted to buy him some really good scotch. As it turns out, in Michigan, all hard liquor is distributed by the state, and then sold to customers by independent retailers. As a result, it's the most transparent liquor market I've ever seen. 1/

I have a Node.js Buffer and I need to write data of various types (e.g. U64LE, I32LE, etc.) to it in various places. Which of the following is fastest? 1. DataView 2. TypedArray views for each type 3. Buffer methods (e.g. `writeInt32LE()`) 4. Only use UInt8Array methods and converting each type.
