Two weeks have flown by, but surprisingly when I checked the website stats, it's actually been busier without SM links than with! Therefore I won't be posting daily links to the website, but it will still be updated daily. The Facebook group will remain. I actually hate social media!

Sixty years ago today a very competitive card at Nottingham was the principal meeting. Monday October 4th 1965 also featured a card from the late, lamented Wye National Hunt course.

Racing Mirror on Saturday 3 October 1981 covered a superb weekend including the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp. Chepstow, Towcester and Kelso jumpers were also in action, as well as a flat card at Haydock.

The first leg of the Autumn Double, The Cambridgeshire at Newmarket, was on Saturday 2 October 1999. Sandown and Redcar also raced on the flat, while Chepstow’s televised card, along with Uttoxeter, provided something for National Hunt fans to get to grips with.

Monday 30 September 1974 saw a bumper nine-race Nottingham card, more flat at Hamilton, plus early season jumpers at Fontwell and Carlisle.

Not much in the way of interaction today, but the horses I was looking for were Indian Diva, Saucy Belle, Never Rock & Prime Justice who were all making their rules debuts before going on to finish last in the 76-79 Grand Nationals. Rough Silk (72) was also right.

We follow up on yesterday’s post by looking at the following day’s action on Saturday 29 September 1979. Ascot and Redcar were the feature flat meetings, but the jumping cards at Carlisle, Market Rasen and Stratford were full of old favourites on a terrific day of racing.

Ascot, Redcar and Stratford jumpers were the televised cards on Saturday 26 September 1981. Carlisle and Market Rasen were the other two National Hunt meetings.

Ascot was televised on Saturday 25 September 1971, featuring the great Brigadier Gerard, as were the meetings at Catterick and Stratford. A curious Hamilton morning card and Market Rasen completed the day’s action.

Ascot was televised on Thursday September 23rd 1982. Beverley, and three National Hunt cards at Perth, Devon & Exeter and Uttoxeter completed a busy day.

A bumper nine race card at Leicester would have presented punters with many conundrums on Tuesday 22 September 1981. Lingfield and Sedgefield jumpers were the other meetings.

Back in 1979 the Ayr Gold Cup was still run on a Friday – and wasn’t televised! However, Newbury was on BBC2. Here’s the cards from Friday September 21st 1979.

Newbury’s Coral Autumn Cup was the highlight of the three televised meetings on Saturday 20 September 1980 – the others being at Ayr and lots of runners at Catterick. two NH cards at Warwick and Bangor rounded off a super Saturday of sport.

The Ayr Gold Cup in it’s old traditional Friday slot on 19 September 1969. Big fields at Kempton Park provided the rest of the action that day.

No shortage of runners on Wednesday 17 September 1975, as Ayr, Windsor and Yarmouth boasted huge fields. Worcester over the jumps was the fourth meeting – and featured Tingle Creek in the two-mile chase.
