Things I will never understand #2532165: Games with photorealistic characters, perfect mo-cap, incredible graphics and sound, tens of millions of dev dollars splashed around on the screen... ...and you can't rebind all the interface keys. Just some of them. Callisto Protocol, I'm looking at you.

What I like about the Steam back end and the Steam Deck is that they're clearly built for and by people who make games for a living. It currently takes me less than a minute to build, upload, and deploy #DIEDIEDIE. New builds are there the instant I refresh the page.

One home-brewed water shader later, #DIEDIEDIE has gorgeous hand-painted skyboxes instead of placeholder AI-generated ones. Note to those painting skyboxes: don't neglect the lower half. Sometimes someone is going to want to set their game in the sky, and will be forced to turn to AI. #indiedev

I'm struggling to find a viable alternative to AI-generated skyboxes. There are loads of nice packs out there, but they're all Stable Diffusion generated. On the other hand, there doesn't seem to be any OTHER kind of hi-res 360 skybox available. Not sure what to do... Anyone got any suggestions?

We are truly in the worst timeline. Trump just announced that the department of collecting import tariffs, which are ultimately paid by Americans, will be called the external revenue service. And people are going to fall for it.

The news that #facebook is planning to pack itself full of AI generated accounts comes as a relief. I always felt vaguely guilty for not promoting myself on there more actively, but now I can just stop worrying and forget about it completely.

As the parent of a child with #misophonia, it was important for me that the game I'm making be something they can enjoy. Misophonia is an absolute blight on families affected by it. Imagine not being able to eat together, watch movies together, give help with homework, or sometimes even a hug.

Every once in a while I have to physically restrain myself from embarking on a remake of Gauntlet. That tile-based gameplay with monsters funneling through bottlenecks nags at me as though there's a whole action puzzle game that never got made just waiting.
