I really enjoy the summer pavillon variation of Azul. I like the wild card mechanics and I think getting bonus tiles as you surround spaces is also cool. Playing the original is now looooong overdue though - we need our own copy! #boardgames

Harmonies hit the table tonight. This game is such a lovely pattern builder - so much interest in getting those cards designed! It has a slight double-edged sword. For one, I love the fact it plays out quick and short, but I still find every game I'm not ready for it to finish yet 😂😂. #boardgames

Me and Abbs have stepped up our 2-player gaming experience with some lights we can clip onto our coffee table 😂. They're great for these darker nights. I'd recommend these carcosonne grids - make it very nice to move the board around a small table space. We didn't buy enough though! #boardgames

I was pretty gutted that Solo had such a bad run because I think he absolutely nailed the brief. His terrible actor in Hail Cesar was absolutely sublime as well.

When playing cockroach poker royals I came to the conclusion that cockroach poker royals does not need to be a thing. Cockroach poker is fine and just feels right for pulling it out of a bag, laying it out and playing with a quick flow. Royals feels like it took a lot of that away. #boardgames

The new Thrice album is an absolute banger. I've been loving it so far. This track seems to be a standout.

The weekend's gaming had two nights of fun and the first was a mansions of madness scenario we almost found impossible. It started off so slow and then everything went very very wrong. The monsters absorbed us.... #boardgames

The thing I've always just absolutely adored about the Samsung calendar I use, is the fact that if I start typing an event, it shows the previous one as an option... Copying over the exact times & everyone you last invited. Wonderful for when picking a boardgame night each month.

La Fleur is another great game that uses this theme. Doesn't quite get you in the moment as well, but the mechanics are fun and everything about it looks lovely! I think my wife would pick la Fleur over Obsession, whereas I'd be vise versa 😊.

We very much enjoyed our first game of knitting circle. You still really feel the vibes of Calico, but standing on its own 4 feet. More to it, but less stressful as well! Size/accessibility of text was a but of a shame though - very hard on the eyes. #boardgames

Abbs lost an insane 48 points in patchwork tonight because of empty spaces and she still took the win! A very low scoring round, but great fun nonetheless. I just couldn't seem to build good income early on and suffered as a result. #boardgames

As is becoming somewhat traditional, we try to pull together a big Game of Thrones on Abbs' b'day - it's the game that started it all, so somewhat sentimental! We only had 4, but that meant we could try the vassal mechanics. One of those rare exps that drastically improved a game. #boardgames

Games night with the In-laws has started with Reiner's Sunrise Lane. A short, bit more mathy version of ticket to ride. I really like this for a quick easy game, though the colours picked and size of icons are awful for accessibility. #boardgames

Harmonies is such a great pattern building game - still currently my favourite. We both had a bad run of tiles for our cards tonight, but it still made for a great, interesting game. #boardgames

The Duel version of Quacks hit the table again over the weekend. I love what this adds to the game 😊 - moving those patients back and forth adds to the risk well! #boardgames

We managed to keep the invaders confidently at bay tonight in spirit Island. Might need to explore some of the extras next. What I love in this game is when you see land, and think "oh shit... That place is done" and one of your co-spirits says "don't worry, I've got they covered" #boardgames

Everdell Duo is a great variation of an already good game. I'd probably pick this over playing the standard game 2-player now. Some nice additions to the original, but still with a bunch of familiarity! Great fun. #boardgames

My wife and I have really been getting back into Carcossone recently. Such a great game that goes from simple to relatively competitive depending on how long you've been playing it. Also seemed appropriate since we're heading to France tomorrow! The pics are a tale of two tiles. #boardgames

Song of the Sea is one of those films where the original soundtrack composer should have probably had a writing credit as well. The film just would not be the same without their wonderful mood setting.

Gladiators coming back to TV has been one of the best things to happen to the UK. We seem to be making it a yearly, family, tradition coming to see it filmed! The kids absolutely loved it last year. It's our youngest's first visit (now old enough!) and he's very excited.

Chapter two of the Skyrim Board game tonight! I do enjoy the adventuring of this game but phewwwww it can be long! The side quests can just encourage too much adventuring! Great fun though! #boardgames
