practice runs at the next LP have devolved to the point where every attempt at the final boss (going on 20+ at this point) are leaving me physically shaking. this is going to be an interesting one to record.

Recorded the first 3 episodes of the new lets play tonight! Going pretty well outside of some strange stuff with how the game and OBS interact. nothing too serious. Guess I can give a second hint now. The game has 3 different endings (and I suppose this post also confirms it's on PC)

in the 3rd act of breath of fire 4 now and it continues to be absolutely incredible. it may actually be one of my all time favorite JRPGs if it keeps up this level of quality to the end. still absolutely in awe at how good the game looks at all times. all time best looking PS1 game for sure.

Locking it in, New lets play starts somewhat soon (trying to complete a practice run before i start recording). Gonna drop some hints leading up to its start. first hint is that the game is not an rpg, but it does have a leveling mechanic

been playing Breath of Fire IV lately. This game is damn good. Happy I decided to pull the trigger and buy it, even if it was really expensive. The visuals in this game are seriously gorgeous, it's maybe the prettiest game on the PS1.

the game awards website doesnt actually work i swear to god im just trying to click between categories and it loads for multiple minutes at a time. there are 4 ways to click "next category" and none of them work also south of midnight didnt get best music nomination which is a crime.

Finished Kirby's Return to Dreamland. Just okay. I liked the bosses.

stumbled upon an honestly amazing deal on breath of fire III and couldnt pass it up so I guess i have them both now? Gonna need to case swap III though because it's clearly been exposed to its fair share of cigarette smoke.

thanks to the chuggaaconroy lp, ive finally beaten every superboss in kingdom hearts 1 for the first time in my life. sephirothbwas peak boss design, and i liked kurt zisa quite a bit. the ice titan and phantom were just okay? and mysterious figure...sure was also there.

well, i finished TNBC: The pumpkin king that was just alright. too linear to be a really great metroidvania. mostly fun. ended on an absolutely awful final boss though.

Finished Pokemon Legends Arceus! Holy hell that game was amazing. Changed up the pokemon formula in such an interesting way and really felt like it delivered on the potential of what pokemon could be on modern hardware. What an incredible game.

This year for halloween, I'm trying again to finish the Nightmare before christmas GBA game. already made decent progress.

I finished spongebob battle for bikini bottom rehydrated it was alright.

finished the main story of pokemon legends: arceus! Really great. astonished by how much i liked it honestly. gonna continue to try for 100% and the true ending, but probably not tonight.

legend of legacy is just so, so boring. its got a pretty visual style but basically no script to speak of and the battles have a really odd levelling mechanic. Really dont get the "multiple stories" thing either.

god breath of fire iv is incredible so far. i could gush about the visuals for hours. the color palettes, animations, environments, all perfect. just such a beautiful game. the gameplay is neat too. i like everyone being a blue mage and being able to steal skills and pass them around. great stuff.

starting Breath of Fire IV as my next game from my con pickups. Absolutely gorgeous so far. Excited to slowly work my way through this one. Also probably starting Legend of Legacy as my handheld game atm. Ive heard it's just okay so I'll probably be able to tell if I want to drop it early

Finished sonic unleashed for the wii! god i love sonic unleashed. even if the levels are a bit wonky in this one and the beat em up sections have just plain bad controls, i still enjoyed the hell out of it. i think part of it is that unleashed is a game that's written really well and easy to get...

Another PRGE Finished! This year was absolutely fantastic. Lots of cool guests and had a great time with the people who came with! This years haul was MASSIVE including quite a few games that I've been hunting for for years. Got some insane deals as well. Anyways, I'm gonna go pass out now.

revisiting lost world today. man. this game really is not good. like dont get me wrong, theres a good set of mechanics here, and some levels are even pretty good, but the story here is so bland, and the wisps add nothing to the game at all.

finally. after years of waiting i, the worlds only shedinja fan, have recieved him.

been trying to design my own card game lately. mainly building the ruleset, cards, and building the world. i wonder if people would be interested in content about it (like a youtube video or 2 talking about the card and world design). right now it's still pretty early in development though.

Alright. I'm done with Final Fantasy XV's DLCs. A long thread of my thoughts on the dlc and some on FFXV in general:

I finished FFXV. It's...fine. Makes a lot of decisions that are certainly *not* good design decisions (combat all around isn't well designed) and the story, while having a ton of interesting lore, is clumsy and doesn't flow super well together. There are clear moments where massive rewrites... 1/3

I've not really commented on it yet but ive been playing through Final Fantasy XV lately its uh..... certainly something. you can certainly feel the decade it spent in development hell

i have once again finished sonic unleashed. what a game. shocking how this is still probably the hardest sonic game. the movement is super technical. far more so than what i normally expect from this franchise.

Ok, i "finished" sonic racing crossworlds (completed all of the cups on the normal difficulty). it's excellent. Really fun racing game. Has a ton of really great tracks and the crossworld mechanic is pretty fun. Has a TON of deep cut references that I wasnt expecting.

Revisited the original Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing these past couple days. Oddly...good? Like, not the best kart racer ever, but a really really solid one. Good track design, great visuals and music, weird little mission mode that has a couple bumpy spots but is generally fun. Solid little game.

I kinda want to make another LP at some point. I'm not 100% sure what exactly it would be, though (not to mention the amount of work it would take). Someday, I do really want to do Nier Automata, but as it stands I am nowhere near as familiar with that one as I am with the first game.

torn between wanting to finish lies of p because i really like it and also saving it for potentially reviving it on stream eventually when if/when i feel like going back to it. that game is honestly really fun. exactly what i was looking for in a souls-like game.

does anyone have advice for being more assertive in situations like this?

FFXIII-2 had me in a bad mood so i rearranged some of my collection to feel better. Finally displaying my PS1 stuff properly on a shelf of their own. Unfortunately the Vita got the boot back into storage in exchange.

watched xiii-2's ending on youtube. im actually very glad i didnt finish it. that was awful. that entire game was a waste of time. guess someday i'll tackle lightning returns, but i cant say im excited about it. at all.

well today was a fucking nightmare xiii-2 may just be the worst game i played this year the final boss gauntlet makes me want to snap the fucking disc in half.

Update: the game is bad. area design is still basic as shit and the encounter rate has been jacked up to 11. some areas dont let you walk more than 2 steps before throwing more enemies at you. battle system still sucks but i like the monster catching mechanic. the plot is gibberish so far.

Officially picked out the next game I'm going to play. It's about time I finally tackled the rest of the FFXIII trilogy, starting with XIII-2 so far the game is gorgeous and the music is great. The battle system still kinda sucks, and the writing is pretty bland. Gonna be a long one, I think.
