friday was a bit blustery, but sunny and warm.. got out the lawnmower to mulch up some of the leaves out back. hung out on the porch with the kids in the late afternoon. so nice…

as i was heading out on thursday, i noticed this tow truck pulling up to rescue a street cleaner. since this was the first thursday of the month, we were scheduled for near-side cleaning on my block (far-side is first wednesday).

well, it’s official; i’m going to be in Interpreter at the Zoo this summer. did preliminary online training and my in-person training starts next week! #excited!

after dropping off my younger brother at the airport thursday, i gassed the car up @Costco for the first time in nearly 2 months! used to be daily. weird…also, supplements aren’t cheap. 😱

on wednesday i had to get a fresh bag of dog food for the kids and was shocked at the price! $95 for 25-lb?? it’s really gone up. it’s crazy!

on tuesday, i started filling out the personnel forms and info for background check and stuff. crazy. it’s getting real…

on monday, i worked on the kitchen some more and refilled my coffee bottles from a batch of #coldbrew that has been a#at it for about a week! #finestkind later that after noon, i got word that id been offered that gig at the Zoo!! #happywoofer

sunday’s focus was the kitchen. since i don’t eat much anymore, there are never too many dishes and the damn dishwasher doesn’t seem to be working right these days. but with the detritus of@the cake-baking adventure, it made a great drying rack. mission accomplished!

a quick follow up: the birthday cake 🎂🍰 i made for saturday game night was quite well received by the birthday boy and all of the other participants!

after my interview, i took advantage of actually being at the zoo to go down to the frilly and polar bear habitats. got to chat with one of the docents who was doing what i would be doing and she was a joy.

on saturday, i attended a group interview for that job @STLZoo. it seemed to go well and, if i’m lucky, i might get to work with these turkeys 🤣🤣🤣 my concern is that of the 5 of us in my group, i was the only one without a background in zoology, biology or other scientific area focused on animals.

a friend in our monthly game night group is turning 51 this weekend, so i volunteered to make a sugarfree chocolate cake on friday. found a sugarfree cake mix at the store and then chopped sugarfree chocolate chips to make the ganache.

got the recycling out on thursday because #fridayisalwaystrashday then found this crazy cap i’d bought as a joke way back when

took advantage of the warm sunny weather wednesday to move #BigMike out of the driveway again so i could attack the mass of dead leaves that had accumulated down near the garage door. a lot more than it appears. there aren’t even any big trees out front! downside of having a submerged driveway

i didn’t have any purple & gold outfit to wear for Fat Tuesday, but i did eat dumplings for dinner for good luck on Lunar New Year.

monday was sunny & insanely warm for mid-feb (mid-60s F) so spent a little time out back pulling out some of the vines that grow like crazy all summer but fortunately died in the winter cold. so damned tangled, though, they’re hard to pull. can’t wait til yard waste p/up starts up again next month.

it was a crazy warm monday and i was doing laundry. after washing the comforter on the bed, i took it out back and draped it across a trellis and the fence. nothing like hanging the wash out to dry, just like when i was a kid. got everything else folded as well

other than the awesome halftime show (was waiting for all the sugarcane plants to start dancing), #SuperBowlLX was pretty meh. we preferred the #PuppyBowlXXII featuring Cheesecake from Missouri! #FredAndEthyl could relate to the part where the pups meet their teammates 🤣 🐶🐶

finally got out of the house saturday to go to my friend group monthly game night (#CardsAgainstHumanity this time) and swung thru the car wash (the temps were up and it REALLY needed it)

got some stuff done around the house friday and did my daily round with this doodad on my feet. i have this weird neuropathy in my feet not caused by diabetes nor a Vitamin B-12 deficiency. 15 min of heat & vibe. Doc says it’s worth a try since he has tried everything else he knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

on Thursday, i finally spent some time going through the piles of mail id been avoiding for…well, far too long. *le sigh* used an old AMZ box to collect up all the junk mail and crap for the recycling bin because #fridayisalwaystrashday

@ grocery store to grab a couple things wednesday. wanted to move the car to the far side of the street on the outside chance that they were actually thinking of doing street cleaning on our side of the street thursday. still ice & snow, but that doesn’t mean they won’t come thru and issue tickets.

well finally got productive on tuesday; filled my pills organizer (two weeks worth - no small task) and finally did the online application for that cool gig @ the Zoo from the job fair last week! 🤞🤞🤞
