In February, I spent a day with my PhD cohort, sharing progress and engaging in discussions about publishing research, facilitated by the SCDTP. At the end, we received a kalawa, symbolising unity, protection, and well-being, which I plan to place alongside my other meaningful reminders.

I have always struggled with time management, resulting in anxiety and avoidance of situations where I might be late. I've learnt to embrace a more relaxed approach to time, prioritising personal well-being over societal expectations.

A few weeks back I shared January's 'to do' list from my wall calendar. It wasn't a long list of things to get done but a reminder to keep an eye on my mental and physical health before I burnout. I thought I'd share this month's message on the run up to half term (a week-long school holiday).

Interviews will explore barriers and facilitators to inclusion, as well as ways forward. No sensitive info about schools, students, or staff will be collected. Any identifying details will be removed from publications. The study has received ethical approval from the University of Birmingham.

I can't be the only adult who likes a good "well done" sticker. I use stickers on my wall calender for a little dopamine hit but also as a visual reminder that I am doing things. Actually. It is sometimes hard to see progress during PhD and other bits of long-term work.

This year I'm reminding myself that my health comes first. I'm inviting myself to slow, breathe. I'm still working out what I need as a newly(ish) dx ND trans person. Someone who is experiencing perimenopause and seeing how this interacts with long-term health conditions that remain unnamed.

I've low energy and low demand recently. I've come into the year even slower than I planned to and thought I would. We had our first table top games night in a long time and it was just what I needed. No screens, no outside world. Just us and games we've played a 100 times before. Take it easy x

This is still one of Little Man's favourite parts of the farm...The automatic door to the cafe and toilet. He starts wondering off that way and I know what he's after. Those sweet five to ten minutes of opening and closing the door. I sit and watching him delight in this play.
