Supporting Autistic people meaningfully means letting go of stereotypes, prejudice and bias. Taking the person as we see them and not relying on information that may be irrelevant to them.

This Trans Day of Visibility, I think about those of us who can’t be trans out loud. Those who rely on being seen as cisgender for their work, their housing, their social network.

In February, I spent a day with my PhD cohort, sharing progress and engaging in discussions about publishing research, facilitated by the SCDTP. At the end, we received a kalawa, symbolising unity, protection, and well-being, which I plan to place alongside my other meaningful reminders.
