In keeping with my “read a lot of long books” year, I picked up The Devils by Joe Abercromibie and Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo—two books in a genre I rarely read, but have caught my eye for a bit.

Reading through and revising SET ON BLOOD and man, if I do pat myself on the back a little, I am getting a good chuckle at some of the lines Past Me wrote.

I’m reading LONESOME DOVE, as one does if you watch enough BookTok. There’s a lot of snakes and horses and ornery cowboys. It’s fun.

I ran 25 miles (not consecutively) in April and play at least 3 games of one on one basketball against my (rapidly improving) 13 year old. I’m tired.

Finished Perfidia by James Ellroy and loved it even thought I couldn’t tell you one iota of what it was about, much like every time I read Ellroy.

I’ve been revising this book that I’ve been working on for years. I made one MAJOR shift in the timeline and now everything has to be adjusted. It’s very interesting because I moved a major reveal up to the inciting incident and now I’m trying to make it all fall into place.

Surprised by how much the Gerry Conway news hit me today. College/grad school Spidey will always be my Spidey and Gerry’s Amazing run was awesome. I will also hold a special spot for his Spectacular run, where I had a letter printed one of the issues.

I’m on an Ellroy kick & I’m not sure why. Tried to read The Enchanters, got two chapters in and got some bad news & couldn’t continue. Two months later I picked it up and devoured it in all its Ellroy ugliness. Now on to PERFIDIA after a break to read NOT QUITE DEAD YET. I think it’s LA facination.

Buy two copies and you can put one on your fridge and one someplace more intimate like your basement fridge or the hood of your car.
