Q2. Empowering students to use voice to text, especially if they are struggling writers can unlock something so vital for those students. Conferring one on one and in groups as well as empowering students to help each other can turn tech mayhem into something closer to tech harmony. #EduSkyChat

With third graders it's simple...my favorite tool is Google Slides. The kids love to create "books" within slides. We just finished a unit in making question and answer books and I printed them out half page books...1 copy for the classroom library and 1 to go home. #EduSkyChat

I teach third grade and I drive a 14 year old Corolla that I may be driving for the rest of my life and it feels like a stereotype. Like in twenty something years they'll be saying: tim parked his 2010 Corolla in the same spot for the last 35 years. There are worse things, I suppose. #teaching

The danger with only using programs that explicitly teach foundational skills during reading instruction is that you miss out on the beautiful opportunities for students to fall in love with the stories being read. There should be a balance of both. #TheRightTools

Third grade is wild because you get to introduce kids to things like: Loose leaf paper "the holes go left. This is left" They've mostly experienced workbooks and worksheets with boxes and lines for everything prior to third.

When Ted Lasso says, be curious not judgmental, it sounds folksy. But I really think it's something that can bring us together. I had an anxiety attack after listening to a politics podcast this morning & I just wasn't my best all day. Curiosity > judgment. Always learning.
