We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers. The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

I am failing so hard

So 2 weeks ago I made this quad-tree glyph atlas for efficient arbitrary text rendering, with this really satisfying visualization. It has a priority system so that unused glyphs can be overridden (probably overengineered af). I just wanted to share it here. I'm really proud of it :D
