Already there are a lot of people saying not enough money has been allocated to meet the aims of the White Paper. This despite SEND funding rising year on year and up by two thirds in a decade. Isn't at least plausible the problem is we've been not spending the money well?

Completely agree with this. People think that teaching is a horrible career and they have that perception, not from the media, but from teachers. Teaching is a wonderful profession. Hard, yes, but genuinely a great career option more people should choose. We are often our own worst enemy.

My lightbulb moment was finally realizing that my approach to teaching electrolysis was insane. Students doing the electrolysis of CuCl2 could not work out that the brown sludge at the cathode was copper and the smelly gas at the anode was chlorine. I had to just tell them #edusky #chatchemistry

For me Turn and Talks value is to give students the chance to rehearse explanations that they have heard the teacher say, but they need to articulate themselves if they are going to have any chance of remembering but they do have to be constantly monitored to avoid the pitfalls that Adam describes.

Some really important points here. For me the focus on the curriculum has been a focus on what is most important, and what has the greatest impact on learning. It’s allowed an increase in standards alongside a decrease in workload. I have deep misgivings on what nonsense might replace it #Edusky
