It’s unlikely to pass the Republican-controlled legislature where there’ll be efforts to expand capital punishment in 2026.

October 10, 2025, the global community marks the 23rd World Day Against the Death Penalty. Even if you believe in the #deathpenalty, while I’d urge you to reconsider, I hope you can at least agree gassing human beings to death is wrong. This weekend, I’ll publish another essay—in Alabama—about this.

In 15 days, Alabama will torture a 7th man to death with nitrogen gas. Weird how the social media outrage hasn’t extended to repetitively torturing people with nitrogen gas.
