Petition: Limit the sale of fireworks to those running local council approved events only
Ban the sale of fireworks to the general public to minimise the harm caused to vulnerable people and animals. Defenceless animals can die from the distress caused by fireworks. I believe that permitting unregulated use of fireworks is an act of wide-scale cruelty to animals.

Ah corporate takeovers: making it difficult to figure out if Kellogg's Corn Flakes are made by the major UK vet-chain and dog food manufacturer Mars (they also make chocolate bars) or Tik-Tac and Thorntons chocolate maker Ferriro.

Kind of amazing to think about how different the world might be today if PayPal had just... failed early on and shut down. You can trace so much nonsense today back to PayPal getting bailed out by eBay.

On top of having `us-east-1` as your single point of failure, it's worth asking yourself: What happens when any single corp one day decides "ope, you violated our terms of service, we're shutting you down". One call from a fascist government, and most of the corps are going to be more than […]

Hacker gets annoyed at Amazon’s Kindle apps, reverse-engineers the Kindle web reader’s protocol (which basically sends each page as a set of glyphs in a deliberately broken variant of SVG). Such obscurity, much security.
