My Birding Anniversary is over for another year but it’s been a great day. 2027 marks a milestone for me as I celebrate 25 years of Birding. I’ll be celebrating 25 years not just on my actual anniversary but all through the year. As an exclusive here is what my 25th anniversary logo will look like.

Here are my first pair of binoculars I used from 2002-2012 next to my first notebook with notes. I’ve kept all my notebooks over the years they are my prized possessions.

Bill Oddie was my main inspiration for my interest in Birding, I enjoyed his Birding with & Goes Wild series he made, he made them interesting and prompt me to get started. I wrote to him 24 years ago and My first ever Bird Guide book was Bill Oddie’s Birds Of Britain & Ireland.

I have been a member of @rspb.bsky.social around 24 years so for my 24th Birding anniversary I thought I’d wear my RSPB cap.

Finished my 24th Birding Anniversary Birdwatch at The Botanics in Edinburgh. Had a great morning today I saw Woodpigeon Moorhen Herring Gull Crow Gooseander Greenfinch Magpie Nuthatch.

If I lived closer I think this might still be my local patch but I still like coming back here.

24 years ago this was one of my favourite spots to watch birds as this pond used to be full of birdlife but over the years there had been less birds here but today a Moorhen & Mallards came out to show face.

Not seen a Gooseander here before so that’s good to see.

Seen a couple of Bird species already Moorhen, Woodpigeon, Mallard (not pictured & Herring Gull (also not pictured).

24 years ago I started my Birding journey here . It became my first local patch for awhile so it’s only fitting I come here for my 24th Birding Anniversary.

After what feels like a long time it’s great to finally get out on my Birding outings again. Today I’m back at Aberlady Nature Reserve and already seen some good birds already.

Next Week I will be celebrating 24 years of Birding. I will visit The Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh not only that’s were I started my Birding adventure but it was also my first local patch.

Looks like tomorrow is looking dry so I can finally go Birding tomorrow. Tomorrow I will visit Aberlady Nature Reserve.

I should call this tree The Finch tree because that’s were all the finch species all flock to, I see Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Greenfinch and the occasional Siskin. A flock of Goldfinches were there but they all flew off before I could take a picture.

Can’t believe it’s 15 years ago on this day I saw my first ever flock of Waxwings in the garden. It’s been the only time but I have seen them in various parts of town sadly not seen them this year…..yet.

Rain scuppered plans today so I’m watching the birds in the garden. Already seen Woodpigeon,Long Tailed Tit & Blue Tit.
