I was talking about this the other day, so I wanted to also say here that I thought Aidan Delbis was really good in Bugonia. All of the actors in that were incredible but he is brand new and held his own in a scene against a two-time Oscar winner, and he was just great.

Good thing today: even though the end of the book was bad, the experience of reading Revival in the comfy fortress was very nice. Day went downhill from there but I have lovely people and dogs in my life.

Why are all the local forest animals always in some kind of dramatic, knock down drag out fight when I'm outside. Owls do this, the squirrels are doing this right now, the raccoons are always bickering about something.

Well and now I'm upset about everything and nothing. Can my brain like be a buddy? Be a buddy! Stop being a dick to me!

I'll also point out that when it comes to me complaining about Revival having a stupid ending that I unironically like the book where Anne Rice says that religion was planted on Earth by bird aliens who eat suffering. And this was SO MUCH DUMBER THAN THAT.

One last thing about being annoyed with the Revival ending, without spoilers but being slightly more specific: The horror idea there did not feel thematically tied to the book. The BASIC idea does, but agency was not a strong theme, and it would have worked better if it was. Thematically unmoored.

Have finished this book in the comfy fortress. It was a very good book! Stephen King is a very good writer of horror! A shocking piece of news to us all! ... ...so there's this horror writer I found during this King redemption I really prefer to him in how they handle themes and I'm predictable-

People are talking about 2016? 2016! Year of historic highs and lows in the life of McKatKat, year I moved to LA. Won't touch all of it or any of the lows, but two highs were that I finished my MFA and was a hair model for Pravana, one of the weirder entries on the list of Random Shit I Have Done.

I am always tempted, in regards to certain dumb takes, to say that "Anne Rice isn't trying to teach you morality," but that's not entirely true. Morality is a big part of her work. But it's about how you handle not being able to be perfectly moral all the time, not the basics of what morals... are.

Apparently I've not mentioned this on here, and one of the award contender movies reminded me: I love the movie Kraftidioten, which is called In Order of Disappearance in English. Went to see it with a friend who was learning Norwegian on the basis that it was in Norwegian and absolutely loved it.
