The wife and attorney of a man detained in Rochester last week say he finally has access to life-saving medication following a kidney transplant. However, they added that federal authorities are still not giving him the correct dosage or the full regimen.

A man taken into custody in Rochester Thursday by federal immigration agents and now held at the Whipple Federal Building in the Twin Cities is a recent organ transplant recipient who is without his needed anti-rejection medication, state Rep. Kim Hicks tells MPR News.

By late Friday afternoon, the Department of Homeland Security put out a statement saying authorities had received Abreu-Vasquez's medications and that ICE would work to ensure he received them. But on Sunday afternoon, his wife told MPR News that he still hadn't received the life-saving medication.
