Love my GF Tanya ❤ (She/her)
Most history you've learnt at school should be called "history of men" Women history needs to be a whole subject taught at school. (I've picked my two favourites if you are interested in the topic!)

In three pages, Kimi Shiranai Natsu Naru successfully manages to depict loneliness facing capitalism from a woman's perspective.

2025 has been the best year ever for my media experiences, and as we approach the end of the year it is time to show my top 10 media for this year and why I love them so much. All of these are super special to me so I hope you take the time to read this thread, maybe something will interest you!~

You love villainess because she's framed as such, I love villainess because she's actually a villainess. We are not the same.

When men authors create animanga in which gender power dynamics is reversed, women chara's agency still has to be exploited somehow, profiting to the male character who's supposed to be oppressed Weirdly enough they always manage to write oppressive world for women but never for men

Sometimes I want to check on some moots who are still on Twitter. But then I saw a trans woman get job termination because transphobic bigots reported to her company over nothing. And a transphobic QRT somehow landed into my TL with using Grok going all essentialist.

i think animanga can be quite sexist and stereotyped when it comes to gyaru, i'm happy this yuri portrays gyaru in a positive and genuine way

Yuri is about identity & feelings. Yet Throw Away the Suit Together managed to tackle socioecon conditions to being a lesbian: job & wage discrimination, unhealthy housing... Some feminist authors analysed hetero-patriarchy as an organised political regime: you "need a man" for a comfortable life

I enjoy many anime & manga, but I will never understand why some people become obsessed with Japan. I only have contempt for the unquestioned, deep-rooted racism and patriarchy within Japanese society, with harsh work & sex exploitation + modern slavery.

I've read a feminist critics (of GoT) on Quora that has changed my view on fiction FOREVER. Many authors just lack sociological imagination. Furthermore the Japanese mangaka & novelists when they can't even imagine a magic system that is not "video game" mechanics.

Vertin is imho one of the greatest protagonist in video games Not only she's elegant, but she's a leader with profound vision of history and humanity She transforms the universe she's in despite the odds, and evolves through complex characterisation I recommend R1999 just for its story-writing

I've tried to write yuri stories but I've never liked it. I really prefer to write a story not focused on yuri (or any romance) then introduce some lesbian subtext after like 80k words. I can't really explain it. At least it impacts me much more i guess.

Anime do introduce "strong female characters" with somewhat agency... Emilia/Rem, Mikasa, Asuna etc. Despite making them "OP", very often their agency'd be exploited to support a male character. Real agency is accumulating resources, build up pathways towards goals that you've set for yourself.

"the twist": a STEREOTYPED MALE character died so that the yuri can take place. It's crazy how the average anime normies can be so despicable. Low rate bombing the show that has a female character with high agency and leadership.

I feel like recent anime chara lack imagination, creativity and boldness, or the anime fail to develop upon them I miss chara such as The Major, Ginko, Lain, Johann, or Mamimi from FLCL Recent chara i'll remember for decades are prolly Frieren or... SUBARUUUU (just cuz i love her)

I think the arc in Akebi where she learns about love is probably the most underrated arc in Yuri. The entire arc is about how Akebi is broadening her view of love outside of heteronormativity, with her classmate who loves another girl. before this arc, the manga was also considered as sub-text!!

"Even though we're adult" not only has good yuri kisses, but also has fantastic storytelling from Shimura Takako whose works are always rich about gender, self-identity and social expectations.

Translating manga/manhua is fun but typesetting is a bit... boring? I spend more time putting text in bubbles than pure TL That's why I've started to TL a yuri light novel to have a change of pace. If you have any suggestion for future reference, I'll take a look~

My most "underrated" yuri is about language barrier between a Spanish speaking woman and a Japanese OL who ran away from society. It's called "Will These Words Reach You" and it's so cute and wholesome
