there is a certain illustration from the light novel that I love, and would love to see it be coloured however after extensive research.... no coloured version exists...

I often talk about the funny/morally ambiguous aspects of Elaina's character, however in her complexity there is a lot of kindness. In this volume 2 story she meets a girl who is profusely discriminated against because of her horns and helps her re-gain the will to live and hope for a better future

In volumes 9 and 18 we see 17 year old Priscilla who is currently studying magic and working part time at a gnome café! She has created even more unique potions and is so far the only known character to do so! She matures into a joyful girl and still thinks about Elaina. I really like her character~

Priscilla (in vol6) is a young girl who excels in potion creating, with dreams of studying magic and becoming a witch. However, to get the funds to do this, she scams her entire village, including a passer-by Elaina, in response Elaina does an even bigger scam to BRUTALLY MOG AND DESTROY HER (1/2)

I didn't realise her age which makes my shipping of them questionable but its also the one time I've seen Elaina blush and not be homophobic at the same time

Fran is 35 years old and a re-occurring Witch in the Wandering Witch series, while also being Elaina's teacher! Although she can be spacey at times. she is knowledgeable and strong, Elaina holds an immense amount of respect for her. She plays a major role in the story throughout volumes 8-10.

I think this really compliments the aspect of the series where Elaina is not often some saviour for these characters but just an active passer-by who experiences these events and does what she thinks is necessary and that's it. The literal only exception to this is her and Saya as they meet 4 times.

one thing I find super interesting about the series is that sometimes Elaina will go through a story with a character and for Elaina that is (usually) the last time she sees the other person, however often times we the reader are shown future stories of the same character (1/2)

ok well her loving Elaina aspects still shine LOL but trust me she gets lots of new developments haha, plus the purple hair girl (who is narrator here) also develops romantic feelings for Saya~

In volume 9 of the light novel we see that Saya makes a new friend~this was really nice to read as it felt like Saya got a whole new aspect of characterisation outside of just "desperately in love with Elaina" which don't get me wrong as I love that about her but I also love seeing new parts of her!

Wandering Witch volume 2 July 14, 2016 (Japanese) June 23, 2020 (English) This cover is pretty and Elaina loves her pastries. This volume features lots of dark and sad stories (I cried!) however most of them were not adapted to the anime. This includes a scamming story and nuclear bomb story.

I think after volume 10 there is a big noticeable difference in Elaina's character. IMO she really matures and mellows out, and on a moral spectrum she goes from a dark grey architect character to a light grey one. It is very fun to compare the almost 2 different Elaina's

This makes a particular story in volume 8 very funny where due to circumstances, Elaina has to work at a cat-girl maid café~ Elaina (on the left) looks VERY happy to be there~

fun fact~ Elaina is allergic to cats! when she comes into contact with one she gets allergy like symptoms and sometimes even cries! However she does secretly enjoy them and other small cute creatures hehe~

I am honestly freaking the FUCK out with all of these character designs for the spin of series hahahaha (context is previous tweet)

it seems in this volume, Elaina becomes a rock-star! I hope to one day be able to read this~

School Story of Wandering Witches (December15th 2023) is a continuation of the one-shot novel where Elaina and friends are modern Japanese high-school students. This is the cover of Volume 1, a homage to volume 1 and 11 of the main series. Sadly there is currently no English translation.
