Was unsuccessful getting the skunk out today. MCAS’ live trap was too small so we tried lowering a cat carrier down. Apparently the skunk has dug itself a den in the dirt and crawled into it to hide. Will need to acquire a live trap and come back tomorrow.

Currently stuck in traffic but heading to meet deputy fire chief, county animal control services and hopefully we can brainstorm away to get this skunk out of his hole. Anyone have a drop?

Apparently the ramp worked as the skunk was no longer in the window well this morning! Hurray!

Got a call about a skunk stuck in a window well. Asked @trustedreveler.bsky.social if she could build a ramp. She whipped one up quick. Ramp placed gently near skunk who insisted on continuing its nap. Cross fingers it crawls out tonight and we don’t have to worry about it spraying in their window.

People can be the worst. Someone broke into Bird Alliance enclosures and 9 birds in rehab were let loose. Of the 5 kestrels that are missing, it appears that one may have been killed by a predator. Absolutely heartbroken.

We have a lovely big leaf maple in the front yard. The trunk has divided into two and one trunk is now a snag. This snag houses squirrels and chickadees nests each year, and maybe woodpeckers. However the snag has live branches and they were eventually too heavy for the dead wood.
