I had a discussion w my upper level students about having a portion of future classes every week as a dedicated in-class writing lab in which they would hand-write a scaffolded research assignment during the whole semester in a writing journal. They absolutely supported. They want to learn to write.

I’m not saying everyone who uses powerpoint is like this at all, but some professors see no real difference between a class lecture and a presentation of their research at a conference. Pedagogy isn’t even on the radar.

PowerPoint presentations (and similar) are bad for audiences and presenters. Lets go back to overhead projectors and black boards.

We've hit that point in the semester when professors learn about all of the horrible issues students have been having to deal with the entire semester, and are still sticking it out trying to get an education. Grace, grace, and more grace to go around.
