Reminder to evaluate the grant on its scientific merits and the suitability of the investigator to do the research, rather than just cite the PI’s pedigree as a surrogate for its quality.

I was advised to do this. A senior professor said he always got out of committee work this way and advised I do the same. I was horrified and told him that wasn't ok. He shrugged and said I would regret not doing it. I absolutely don't regret my stance! Service is important!
