Saturday, February 7th, 2026 A sultry, mostly overcast day, where the air is just still. Rain seems not far away at any moment, but chooses evening. Frogs are active early, aware it is imminent. 30°C and we had the aircon going as much for the humidity as the heat.

Friday, February 6th, 2026 Classic February weather today; 29°C (84°F) and an afternoon thunderstorm with hail. Then sun again.☺️ It was a recovery day at home after the last few days.

Thursday, February 5th, 2026 Achieved a fair bit today. We got laundry done and almost dry. Took Chris to his psychologist appointment, then he saw his social support guy.

Amazing! Cyanobacteria in caves photosynthesising with near-Infrared light using chlorophyll-d and chlorophyll-f. The cave is dark to human eyes, but the near-IR bounces all the way in!

Wednesday, February 4th, 2026 A fairly busy day for me today, and it was a much warmer 28°C (82°F), although it felt hotter. I had my regular GP visit and got a Covid booster (a newer strain). That’s my 9th. Flu vax next month.

My latest track. Pity that Alison Moyet turned into a big TERF. Vince Clarke is a solid LGBTQA ally, though, and he became the other half of Erasure.

I have no respect for gutless, spineless cowards with no ethics. It’s a lot of what’s wrong right now.

My ongoing disappointment with BlueSky is moderation. They never tell you if they have done anything with your report. I continue to be on defamatory and vaguely described yet enormous blocklists. For example, I’m a physics teacher and someone put me on ‘RW conspiracy theorists and UFOlogists’.

There seems to be an uptick in weird shit with accounts here. I was blocked by an account that had two posts but over 18k blocks - without using blocklists. Also blocked by an account that was yanked by BlueSky minutes after.

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 19°C (66°F) today. I’m still trying to pull myself out of a despondent state. All of my usual disciplines to guard my mental and emotional health went off the rails last night. I saw a post on fb that had unnecessarily prejudiced wording.

Feeling quite despondent. I put energy into advocating in an accurate and representative way … for a group that has some incredibly disappointing individuals in it. I know there are some great people that ‘get it’. That’s why I don’t give up.

Monday, February 2nd, 2026 Much cooler today! Only 16°C (61°F). I had another big sleep reset - I think it’s recovering from a lot of stress build up. Wasted about two hours of my day working around housemate activity.

‘Just live your life.’ Has to be the ultimate in gaslighting. That actually was the plan. I certainly wasn’t planning on noisy bigots spreading lies and calling for restrictions and loss of rights. Go tell them to ‘just live your life’.

Sunday, February 1st, 2026 A rainy, overcast Sunday here. There was a bit of thunder in nearby areas. Although 27°C (81°F), the humidity made it uncomfortable. I slept in a lot, almost 2pm, partly as I’d not gone to sleep well.

And there it is. In exchange for supporting their transphobia, the Christian right are now holding anti trans howlers to their part of the deal. Go after abortion. Trans people told you. Real feminists told you.

Saturday, January 31st, 2026 Very hot again, (34°C / 93°F) so I stayed cool near the air conditioner. I’m not sure why I’m waking early. I think it’s connected to anticipating the heat. Chris is now watching ‘Lucifer’.

Friday, January 30th, 2026 Snuck outside to take this photo, yep - definitely hot. It was 31°C (88°F) here today and we just sheltered inside with the air conditioner on. We have an ‘extreme heat’ alert current until late Saturday.

Thursday, January 29th, 2026 Today is a year since Chris came home after a 10 week stay in hospital. It’s been a long journey. We’re still not in a situation that is ideal, but we have explored every avenue for support and improvement.

I don’t like the Liberal Party’s policies, but I’m happy to call out this type of shit. Disgusting that any women that are in public life seem to be framed in such a gender-based abusive way.

Wednesday, January 28th, 2026 It felt a lot hotter today than the day official 33°C! Likely due to humidity, as we’re supposed to have fog overnight. I took Chris to see his One Door support guy, this was the last meeting, as at this point, we are just waiting on the Housing Department.

Tuesday, January 27th, 2026 Warm but bearable today. 26°C but 33°C tomorrow. I know that it’s far worse elsewhere, and I feel for you all. The 2019 fires got within 4km of home. I don’t know what idiosyncrasies of terrain and winds spared us today.

Saturday, January 24th, 2026 A lazy day for me today. It was quite pleasant, a light breeze and 30°C outside, and inside was cool enough that an open window was enough to stay comfortable. I woke up fairly early, but had a three hour aura migraine.

Remember the UK law firm that promised 1,000 clients would join their legal claim against the Tavistock for transing kids? And how their statements were parroted excitedly by the UK press (and beyond.) Does this outcome illustrate the character of everyone involved? You decide.

Friday, January 23rd, 2026 A lovely, cooler day today. We rested at home. I had a huge sleep-in. I seem to get the stage of just letting things go out of exhaustion. Chris has finished ‘Stranger Things’ and is now watching ‘Cobra Kai’ (Karate Kid spin-off).

A local fb page post made a mention of a specific pharmacy chain. It was about how some of them were closing and some are not. A guy made a comment that it wasn’t exactly welcoming to men with the pink branding decor everywhere. 1/2
