In a manner of speaking. 🤭

Thomas has walked through the world as a Ghost, no connections, he can't do that again. He's too old now, he'd lose his mind without Jenny and Addie to create a home rather than a sparse, empty apartment. His heart breaks. But he's used to making tough decisions no one wants to make. #lyonslegacy

Aiden has never known him. Lives a good life. Maybe he would be better off without this turmoil. Thomas wants to really meet him, know him, explain himself, but he also can't risk putting his wife and daughter in danger. He can't lose his tether to normality or risk losing himself. #lyonslegacy

Not subtle. Not suggestion. That was a threat. His boss doesn't resort to flat out threats unless he has to. Which scares Thomas more than he can say. He can give up a relationship with Aiden, or risk possibly putting Jenny and Addie in danger. Or be forced to lose them, too. #lyonslegacy

Pain and sadness are warring emotions within him. Thomas was close to getting to know his son, finally. He knows so little about him. And now he's basically being told that's a danger. Thomas also worries about his daughter. His sweet, naive, impulsive daughter. #lyonslegacy

Five more people. Five more people know about his curse, his 'ability'. He never thought about that. He's always been so successful because no one remembers him. And therefore no one can get to him. Jenny and Addie have both been sworn to secrecy, but Aiden? Who might he tell? #lyonslegacy

Thomas feels both rage and fear at the texts that come through from his boss. They know he can and will make good on his threats. If anything happened to Aiden, he'd avenge him. But he also knows that his boss has more power than most in the department. #lyonslegacy

Thomas has always tried to keep his private life as separate from his work as possible. While it's not surprising they know about Aiden, it makes him feel uneasy. The last thing he wants is any of his work to get near any of his family. #lyonslegacy

As soon as the text comes through, Thomas knows who it is. Most likely his boss at work. The question makes his blood run cold in a way he's not used to anymore. #lyonslegacy

After he deals with Addie, Thomas knows he needs to speak to Aiden, but he's not even sure where to start. A glance around his room proves to be no help. The buzzing of his cellphone from his pocket distracts him though, and he frowns when he sees a text from Unknown. #lyonslegacy

The last train Thomas can get out to Chestnut Ridge runs through the night but he promised Addie he'd be there by morning. He is furious she ran away, but grateful in a way that she did some of the hard work for him. #lyonslegacy

There will be an update a little later today, but it'll be a little different. I might be experimenting with my posting style a little, starting with this one, so that's why!

D: You ok? C: Yeah. Think I'm going to see if I can grab a train back to Granite Falls. D: Thanks for your help, with all of this. C: Of course. Any time. Maybe you can come out to Sulani next time. D: I'd like that. I have some vacation time. C: You know where I'll be. #calderhart

C: Wasn't easy, but it was fine. D: How long did you live here? C: Couple'a years, at least. I was trying to find a cure. Figured this would be the best place for it. D: Huh. C: What? D: My friend, that I got the cure recipe from, lives here. C: Hm. Yeah. Packs keep to themselves. #calderhart

C: You don't want to call the local cops, ask about this? D: Nah. I needed to know what happened. Now we know. We need to find the daughter though. C: I won't be any help with that. D: No worries, I'll take it from here. I appreciate your help, I know this must have been hard. #calderhart

C: He figured out what I was.. when I was leaving, he asked me to turn him.. he wanted revenge. I told him no way in hell. He didn't take it well. D: I guess he got what he wanted. C: And couldn't control it. He got what was coming to him. #calderhart

D: You can't tell? C: Mm. There's another scent, but it's faint, jumbled, I can't get a bead on it. D: Who was this guy, Chase? How do you know him? C: Well, he was my landlord. Vinnie is the only name I have for him. He never said and I never asked his last name. #calderhart

C: Yeah. It wasn't as neat as they make it seem. This was a messy kill. Something driven by anger and revenge, not someone taking out a rogue werewolf. D: Our missing girl? C: Maybe. She could have turned. #calderhart

When they get closer to the office, the police barriers become more obvious. Chase wrinkles his nose at the smell. D: Well, something happened here. C: Yeah, someone took care of the wolf we're hunting. D: You can tell? #calderhart

D: Was it always this.. quiet? C: No.. no, this is unusual. This place was at least half full when I left. D: Come on, lets look around. C: The office is on the other side, lets check there first. #calderhart

It takes a bit to get from Granite Falls to Moonwood Mill, so Chase and Derrick arrive at the run down hotel in early afternoon. D: You lived here? C: Yep. It was cheap, they didn't ask questions. #calderhart

I don't have fancy end cards, but that's all for my update for now.. hopefully we'll get to Moonwood Mill soon!

The kids are adorable and Derrick doesn't want to interrupt him, but he needs to ask a question. D: You going to be ok to travel tomorrow? C: Yeah, we can leave in the morning, no problem. W: For now you can stay for dinner, help Chase keep the kids occupied. D: Yes, sir. #calderhart

B: U'cowe Dewwick! Derrick is surprised, glancing at Chase since he didn't expect to get that moniker. C: Don't look so surprised. You and the others are closest I have to family, D. D: Thanks, I.. that means a lot, Chase. Guess I am your Uncle Derrick, kiddos. #calderhart

Teagan, summoned by his name, comes wobbling over unsteadily but with a big grin. W: Obviously, this is Teagan. Chase chuckles at his son's antics, never one to like being left out. C: Teagan, this is your Uncle Derrick. T: U'cle Dewwick? #calderhart

W: Like I said, fussy around a full moon. Derrick chuckles as Briar tries to get up onto the couch, not sure if he should help her. D: You want to come sit by me? You got this, Briar. C: She's quieter than Teagan, but more curious. Gets her hands into all sorts of things. D: I bet. #calderhart

D: Hey there, Briar. Nice to meet you. The new man smells different than Papa or Dad. Briar's not sure what to think about that. She doesn't meet a whole lot of new people, but he doesn't smell like Uncle Alex either. When she fusses again, Wyatt looks amused but puts her down. #calderhart

Chase urges Derrick to sit down with him, looking up at his daughter lovingly. Briar hides against Wyatt briefly, but she's also changed her mind about being held and starts fussing a little. W: Derrick, this is our little girl, Briar. #calderhart

W: Besides, the kids are werewolf pups. They don't understand yet, but they get more restless and irritable around a full moon. Briar, honey, come here. Briar looks up from playing blocks and holds her arms up. #calderhart

C: Full moon tonight. Derrick freezes. He didn't even think about that. Didn't occur to him. D: Oh. You going to be alright? C: Yeah. I won't transform when I'm around the kids. My need to protect them is stronger. W: We found that out the first full moon after they were born. #calderhart

W: Not tonight. C: No, not tonight. Derrick looks away from the intimate scene, at the toddler playing, but he's confused. D: Why not tonight? #calderhart

Wyatt stands up when Chase and Derrick come in. W: That was fast. Chase hugs Wyatt, pressing into his neck to clear his nose of unpleasant scents and ground himself. C: Mm. Picked up a scent. It's.. familiar. W: Familiar? C: Yeah. Need to go to Moonwood Mill. #calderhart

The return to Chase's cabin is mostly silent, Derrick giving Chase some time to hopefully calm down. C: Come in, might as well meet the family. D: You don't want to go to Moonwood Mill tonight? C: No. Chase is being curt, but he doesn't want to explain twice. #calderhart

This weekend is a WONDERFUL time to back up your saves and tray folders ahead of next week's patch!

D: Chase, you okay? You get something? Derrick hasn't ever seen the more animalistic side of Chase, though they dealt with werewolves before of course. C: M'fine. I got something. I recognize the scent. #calderhart

A snarl rips from Chase before he can stop it, startling Derrick a little who was standing by watching. Chase recognizes that scent. It's different. Changed. And faint. But he lived around that scent for over a year. It's a potent scent. Not one he'd likely forget. #calderhart

Everyone and everything has a distinct scent, most of the time he automatically filters it out. He can smell Derrick, the fertile earth, the rain, hints of the violence committed, and then... Then there's something else. #calderhart

Chase focuses on his senses, looking around first to see if there's anything unusual. The soggy ground keeps him from seeing too much. Then he focuses on his sense of smell. It's much more potent. #calderhart

All the blatant evidence has been gathered and removed already, but if they had any leads from that evidence, Derrick wouldn't have called Chase. D: Here it is. This is the area where we found the bodies. C: Ok. I'll see what I can find, but with the rain it might not be much. #calderhart

D: I still have to meet the twins afterall. C: Hopefully they'll be in a better mood later. D: Travel does that to little ones. C: Yeah, they're pretty easy going though. D: Lets hope so. Should we go then? C: Sooner we do, sooner we're back. #calderhart

Derrick only takes a few minutes to get over, but he's renting the cabin next door. C: Hey, D. Good to see you. D: Same, wish it were under better circumstances. C: Same. I'd invite you into say hi to Wyatt, but he decided to lay down. D: No worries, we'll catch him later. #calderhart

After Chase hangs up he explains to Wyatt. C: Derrick will be here in a minute. We're going to the scene now. W: Are you sure you don't want to rest? C: I'm sure. Especially with this rain. I'll be back soon. W: Ok. Be careful. C: Always, my moonbeam. #calderhart

C: Nah. Not with this rain. Better to do it now before scents fade too much more. D: Sure. I can be over in a few minutes and I can show you the area. C: Yeah. Sure. See you in a few. #calderhart

Chase makes his call while Wyatt makes sure the twins are really asleep. D: Hey Chase, you get in ok? C: Yeah, just getting the twins settled. This place is amazing. D: Glad it meets expectations. You want to rest up some, meet tomorrow? #calderhart

Traveling really took it out of the twins and there's only a little bit of fussing - mostly from Teagan whose first sharp little canines are starting to come in - before they fall off to sleep. #calderhart
