Comma abuse is something I see on occasion. Authors will overwork these poor punctuation marks, then blame them when the reader is confused. Yes, commas can do a lot of heavy lifting, but if you're not using dashes, colons, and semicolons on occasion, your writing is going to feel short staffed. 🧵

Much like the Oxford comma, the vocative comma is basically useless (imo) until it’s not 😅 and when it’s not, it can lead to mixups! This comma needs more attention, and would probably get it if it didn’t have such a stuffy name. I think this one seems more fitting!
