I want to remind the Trump Administration: ICE has no place in our schools. I sponsored AB 49 to keep immigration enforcement away from our school campuses. Our students and their records are off limits without a judicial order.

I’m proud to have co-sponsored legislation that led the implementation of California’s Universal Meals Program, offering two free meals per day to all students. We’re providing more meals to students than ever, and more of those meals include organic, locally-sourced ingredients.

I kicked off a reconvening this week of the Superintendent's Cohort to Move the Needle on Test Scores, a group of over 200 California school districts who are working together to create 5% growth statewide in both student literacy and math. So proud of our educators and their dedication!
