For those interested in open neuroscience learning tools, check out the preprint for “RetINaBox: A hands-on tool for experimental neuroscience" that a couple students in my lab worked on in collaboration with the Trenholm lab:

Public access to the first fly connectome that spans the whole CNS - BANC!:
codex.flywire.ai?dataset=banc
Different from prior connectomes - it is brain + cord (think spinal cord) We use it to ‘embody’ the system and find it resembles ‘subsumption architecture’

Really interesting study showing that synaptic sign-switching contributes to fast & accurate value updates with no potential limits on learning flexibility!
add a skeleton here at some point

3/3) I think it's time for the field to move on from predictive coding, per se, and refocus on uncovering the basics of how predictions are formed and compared to sensory data in the cortical microcircuit, rather than chasing ghost prediction error neurons. Hopefully this paper will help!

We had an incredible gathering at UK Neural Computation 2025
@imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social
last week 🇬🇧 Macron missed out... Some of the UK’s very best at the frontier of comp neuro. Thanks to our sponsors ARIA + Crick & UKNC team:

Synaptic Function and Sensory Processing in ZDHHC9‐Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder: A Mechanistic Account
In the current study, we employed a bottom-up approach to study the impact of synaptic-level alterations associated with ZDHHC9 variants on cortical function in healthy and ZDHHC9-deficient participa...
