Here is the limited (500) edition of Neil Halstead's Palindrome Hunches signed to me. The notebook includes handwritten lyrics. I bought this when I saw him play at High Noon Saloon in Madison WI Oct. 13, 2012. It was SUCH a tiny show, and he was so good!!

This right here goes to show just how broken my brain is these days. This is a Chris Bigg watercolor - it came to me only in the last maybe 5 years? And I don't remember how. I have no doubt one of you with a working brain can remind me: was it with a book? A record? I DON'T REMEMBER.

I am so sick. Why do we let students with germs come to our schools? Anyway. This is one of the more bizarrely-packaged items I own. I cannot imagine the thought process behind it. Put out by beta-lactam ring records in 2000, it's a various artists comp called A Rendering of the Veil.

In 2008, Dead Can Dance released this stunning velvet box of SACDs (super audio cds - the tophat and monocle of the CD world). They have sleeves that replicate the vinyl sleeves (plus OBIs). Limited to 1500 and somehow still very rare at that.

A Birth Marked Conspiracy, from 2000 on Beta-Lactam Ring Records. This is a beautiful art object and removing those linen ribbons to open the box is one of the biggest pains in the ass of any music object I own. Ours is number 20 of 50.

Recently, I learned that Murder Inc. only played 1 single US show - this one at the Limelight on June 30 1992. I very much remember this show and it was outstanding. Martin fucking Atkins! This was a summer of very good industrial shows, and the Limelight was my regular Tuesday night in those years.

Since I posted Misery Farm yesterday, how about the tickets from those Current 93 shows at Tonic in 1999? In March of 99 I would've been living in upstate NY, so this would've involved quite a trek to get to. I think these 2 consecutive shows were the only times I've seen Little Annie play live.

In 1992, I walked into a Sam Goody at the mall (the mall!!) in NJ, and while browsing the 'c' cds, came across this weird one with no words at all on it. I immediately recognized the artwork as being related to Coil's Love's Secret Domain, and took a shot and bought it.

How about something different today? These are prints of @johnlurie.bsky.social's work. While I loved him as a lounge lizard and a fisherman, he's definitely one of my favorite fine artists of all time. I paid for good, non-reflective glass at my framer's, but not "museum quality," and it shows

In 1988, one of the best crossovers to ever happen happened. The March of the Sinister Ducks, by the Sinister Ducks, was released on flexi with Critters 23. Alan Moore, David J, and Alex Greene singing the best song about ducks ever written.

In 1999, @kristinhersh.bsky.social released Sky Motel, and 4ad and Throwing Music released these old style motel keychains as a promo item. You can see I still have 8, but at one point I had upwards of 20ish. Somewhere around 10 years ago I mailed a bunch to other KH/TM fans.

Let me tell you, my very first time seeing the Magnetic Fields live was one of the most intimate shows I've ever attended. It was in a gymnasium at Rutgers in 1997, cost $5, and the audience contained maybe 100 people? It looks like I had ticket 78. It was SO GOOD.

Today's artifact is The Nodding God Unveiled by Current 93. It's a full-size magazine filled with quirky jokes and info about C93, although I guess it technically doesn't say C93 anywhere on the cover or CD (instead they're calling themselves "the nodding folk" for this release).

Ok, quiet day, I'm working, how about a ticket stub today? I only vaguely remember 808 State from this show - I absolutely remember MBM. I have no idea who I saw this show with though. This was my senior year in high school, I think? Probably my 3rd or 4th Meat Beat show at that point?

First of all, don't judge me. This is a signed proof of the Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke Duality cd. It is very wrinkled. Posters seemed to be the only music thing I couldn't keep in good condition with so many moves (academia is a brutal mistress).

In 2002, Edward Ka-Spel (Legendary Pink Dots; Tear Garden; etc) released this stunning illustrated lyric book in a hand-numbered edition of 834 (ofc). It's called Love and Loud Colours. I'm a sucker for lyric books and have a whole shelf of them, and this is one of my favorites

Welcome back, music lovers! This is a stub from a Cocteau Twins concert that took place at the auditorium on Tulane University's campus. My dorm room was like, half an inch away from here and I cannot explain how incredible it was to get to see Cocteau Twins live and SO CLOSE.

First day of the semester has me 108% deceased. So. These are Helium balloons, promos for Helium's 1995 "The Dirt of Luck". I am a sucker for pun. (These were hard to get photos of for some reason!)

Ok, I can find 0 information about this I Am Spoonbender flip book called "Elephant Memory Decoder". I feel like it came with one of their albums probably ordered direct from the band but I have 4 of their albums from 1998-2002, so I can't get more specific-If anyone knows, tell me where I got this!

Today we have a handwritten lyric book with artwork done by Michael (Mick) Allen for his project Geniuser. It was available as an option when they launched their PledgeMusic campaign (does that even still exist?) in 2018. (You may know Allen from Rema Rema or the Wolfgang Press instead)

Since it's almost 36 years to the day, here's my ticket stub from The Cure, The Prayer Tour, Aug. 20, 1989 at Giants Stadium. An absolutely perfect show. Then on top of that, they shared the bill with Love and Rockets, The Pixies, and Shelleyan Orphan!

Almost missed today because I was driving half the day to a workshop. How about a 1998 Godzuki calendar - small poster size (sorry, didn't measure it, but hand for scale!) I'm like 85% sure I got this at the Simple Machines going away party at the Black Cat in DC in March of 1998.

In 2008, @kristinhersh.bsky.social offered customized cds, with the tracklist chosen by the buyer and recorded specifically for that person. It was a dream come true for many of us. This is my custom 10-4.

In honor of the ~100 ticket stubs I found in a box in my music archives, I'm posting the stub from the very first concert I ever went to: The Jacksons Victory Tour, July 29, 1984 at Giants Stadium. My sister won the tickets from z100, the local radio station, because that's what we did in the 80s.

I unearthed SO MANY concert ticket stubs today instead of writing a talk I have to give next week so get ready for some nostalgia.

Apparently today is National Vinyl Record Day so in honor of that I'll post my original copy of Coil's Musick to Play in the Dark V. 1 on milky white vinyl. Since I ordered directly from Jhon and Peter, it came with a certificate of provenance numbered 94 and signed by them both.
