The courts shouldn’t need to remind the President to feed the country—but here we are. Families need SNAP and they need it now.

The courts had to step in and tell Donald Trump to feed the people. Let that sink in. He was perfectly fine letting millions of Americans go hungry—in the middle of a shutdown that Republicans created. Do what the judge said, Donald. Release the funds and stop playing with folks’ livelihoods.

Since the Administration is refusing to help Americans in need, we are standing by to vote for bills to ensure continued access to food assistance. Why won’t Republicans call up these bills for a vote? They'd rather let kids go hungry than risk a vote on the Epstein files.

Today marks 30 days of the Republicans’ shutdown. Now, 42 million Americans, including 3.5 million Texans, are at risk of losing access to SNAP. Enough with the games. It’s time for them to show up and do their damn jobs.

When workers need food stamps to survive, it’s not because they’re lazy — it’s because corporations like Walmart and Amazon pay poverty wages. Those SNAP benefits? They’re not worker welfare — they’re corporate subsidies. The real welfare queens aren’t working families. They’re corporations.

If you make 130% of the federal poverty level, you qualify for SNAP. A family of four, making $40,560, qualifies for SNAP benefits meaning thousands of Missouri teachers qualify. I’m tired of the bullshit. Most of the people who receive snap benefits work.

So the government can spend $40,000,000,000 to bail out Argentina and $200,000,000 for Kristi Noem’s private jets. But when it comes to federal food assistance, "the well has run dry." This administration doesn't care about working people.

The shut down is on day 23. Government workers are about to miss their second paycheck. WIC and SNAP are about to be unable to provide services. Ann Wagner and Congressional Republicans could do their job and work with Democrats to reopen the government, but we're not one of her priorities either.
