I'm a pretty pragmatic guy. My dad, in many ways, was not. Despite being a scientist, he was prone to buy into the latest tinfoil hat conspiracy du jour. Today, I think I understand him a little better.

This is the best articulation of what bothered me the most about the government response. Any real law enforcement agency would suspend the officer pending investigation, no matter how justified the shooting appeared. That they jumped straight to wagon-circling and victim-blaming was shocking.

ICE agents don't have absolute immunity. This is literally promising to do absolutely nothing. If democratic leadership thinks they can distract us from the fact that ICE needs to be completely abolished, they're even dumber than they think we are.
