Never, when I started Kind Cotton did I imagine that words like inclusion would cause such harm. Never did I think people would be against learning about accurate history. I didn’t think showcasing different families that suggested NOTHING about s*x would cause people to go ballistic…

Love is believing all people are worthy of love. Love is voting to ensure all people maintain their rights. Love is making people feel seen and valued. Love is empathy. Love is justice. Love is equity. Love is sincere kindness not niceness. Love is knowing that DEI is beneficial to us all.

Give me a galentine who is ready to: Fight book bans Protect DEI initiatives Believe in collective liberation Build real community Support LGBTQIA+ rights Teach through an anti-racist/anti-biased lens Support accurate history Vote in all elections

Please stop telling us to stick to books when our democracy is lost. The books we donate share stories of all people. Some of the books we donate have been banned/challenged in parts of the country. We would be hypocrites if we just stuck to books. It is our hope that more businesses speak up.

I cannot be at my best if I’m not finding joy. I can’t keep building opportunities for book access if I’m not caring for myself. I cannot fight book bans if I’m not filling my cup. I piled on myself for years and it’s not sustainable. Here’s your reminder to do something you love today.

Today is International Day of Education. It’s more important now than ever that we keep showing up. Keep sharing all voices. Keep demanding that books are protected. Keep supporting the teaching of accurate history. Our children deserve it and our future depends on it.

Trans people: You are seen. You are loved. You are valued. You are worthy.

The past two months I have grieved. I’ve held space and I’ll keep holding space. But, now is the time to keep using our voice. Now, more than ever we need to be in community. We need to keep fighting for change. We will keep fighting book bans. We will keep increasing access to books.

In the past 24 hours we have had 4 schools that burned down and countless families reach out to us about book donations. We are so grateful that we are able to help. If you are in need of books, or want to donate any to the efforts please email us at [email protected].

The world is quite literally on fire and we still have people who don’t believe in climate change while fossil fuel companies are cashing in during catastrophes. Here’s the thing about the climate crisis…you can’t run from it the way you can other horrors. Sending immense love to everyone.

There have been 83 school shootings already this year. Let that sink in. 83 schools impacted by the trauma of guns. Every child who goes to school in America has to hide in corners silent while their teachers lock doors and turn off lights in order to practice active shooter drills. It’s traumatic!

Children should be safe at school. Children should be safe at stores. Children should be safe at festivals. Children should be safe at water parks. Children should be safe at movie theaters. Children should’ve be safe everywhere. #protectkidsnotguns #bangunsnotbooks
