Stan Lee's strategy for defeating the Comics Code: 1. Get a letter from the US Dept of Health asking for a drug awareness story 2. The CCA says no 3. Publish without the seal anyway 4. Get positive national press coverage 5. Watch the Code revise its rules within the year Magnificent.

The Comics Code required good to triumph over evil. Every. Single. Time. No exceptions. No moral ambiguity. The villain always loses. Would you read comics with that rule today?

Zombies were banned from comics from 1954-1971. Marvel's workaround: call them 'zuvembies.' Actual published Marvel comics used the word 'zuvembie' with a straight face. Comics history is genuinely unhinged.
