the fd91 from 1999, boasting a huge 37-518mm, an EVF, optical image stabilization, a blazing fast x2 floppy drive, manual control, f1.8-2.8, its a true followup to the ProMavica line that used video floppys in the late 80s and early 90s, fun!

has anyone figured out a way to properly scan instant film? I do have little holders to (poorly) prevent newton rings on a flatbed, but really, the results aren’t good Is copystand+cpl something to try?

I've written text reviews, but there is a part of me that wants to make a youtube channel, and fill the niche of reviewing pre-2000s digital cameras

a feature of my Sigma SD10 (and SD9) is the sports finder. A full frame mirror and viewfinder setup, with an APSC image area (x1.7, funnily) It lets you see things coming into view, it’s a shame this feature never caught on!

the kodak dc20 was the first consumer digital camera by kodak, in 1996 the software needed windows 3.1, and was very limited on the left is the results of a porting job of some old linux software, to improve the image quality, on the right is the original software!

an unfortunate recurrent issue over the years, it seems eventually in a photography group, once people get wind that you are a woman, someone will get creepy to you 😞 ive been involved in many male orientated hobbies since i was a kid, but photography has always had a disproportion amount of creeps

APSC sensors, the small Sigma DP2, and the absolutely massive Sigma SD10 the sd10 was 2003, the dp2 was 2009, it shows how much tech advanced that such a small sized camera could be made with such a large sensor!

early CCD cameras had very different image processing to later cameras when they were competing with film, especially professional slide film, they were aiming for a vibrant contrasty look later tech, not competing with film, opted for a flatter look, to retain information for later editing

I don’t like using the term “film like” to describe digital… it’s a lot more nuanced than CCD=film, but I do think the rendition of these Pentax *ist DS photos I took are nice (and maybe reminding me of some 110 film photos I’ve taken for colors)

after all the home scanning i’ve done, comparing it to older lab results i’ve gotten, and seeing other people’s lab results… my controversial opinion is a lab scan can almost never be good, this goes doubly for ORWO color film or Phoenix, auto everything is bad

I keep having light leak issues with my Kiev Vega 2, it turns out, its because it has no pressure plate I just figured Soviet submini cameras didnt have them, but no, mine is just straight up missing It also causes sharpness issues, oh well...
